Welcome to a series we are starting called “What Is That Sound?”. In this series, we will cover common and uncommon noises made by mechanical equipment and how you can use these sounds to diagnose issues with any of your current equipment. First, we will start with…

Water Heaters

Have you noticed that your water heater is making strange noises like knocking or popping sounds? Is your water starting to show signs of rust discoloration? If so you may have a couple of issues going on. Over time sediment can build up in the bottom of the tank on your water heater. This collection of sediment can cause your water to change to a rust color. If corrosion occurs the best option is to replace your water heater before it gets worse or develops a leak.

Water heaters, though relatively basic by design, do require regular maintenance to prevent issues over time. All water heaters should be drained completely once per year. Our technicians can service and test the internal components of your water heater, fittings, and internal thermostat for damaged or faulty parts that need to be replaced.

We recommend the Rheem Professional Classic Plus Atmospheric and the Hybrid Electric Platinum models and install them for all of our customers. The professional-grade models are made with titanium internal components and a fiberglass tank with zero risks of corrosion issues. The tanks themselves carry a lifetime warranty as well.
